Born in Cattolica Eraclea, Sicily, he immigrated to Canada in the 1950s and worked for CP Rail before launching St. Joseph Communications in 1956. Gaetano moved from Italy with his wife and eventually had 10 children in total and over 40 grandchildren. His printing business, St. Joseph Communications would eventually become what is the largest private communications company in Canada. Gaetano Gagliano was also given the title of Commendatore which is one of Italy's highest honorary rankings.
